Our environment is suffering because of our carelessness and it is time that we should seriously think about its protection, otherwise very it will be catastrophic for us in the future. We are consuming the natural resources very fast and the prices of oil and gas are reaching sky high. At this time we should do something about our environment and the 1st thing is to use green energy resources. Green means those energy resources with do not have bad impact on our planet. It is about time that serious steps be taken in order to save our environment because we only have one planet where we can survive. If we destroy it then our survival will be in danger also.
There are many natural resources which are also renewable like sun, wind and water. All of these resources are green resources and replenish naturally. Oil and gas reserves on our planet are being used very fast and very soon they will be finished. So this is the time when we should focus on other greener natural resources which are freely available to us.
These renewable resources are also very cheap. It costs nothing except only in exploitation phase when its cost is a bit high, but in future its cost will also go down. Some of these readily available natural energy sources are:
Hydropower
It is the energy produced through the movement of water. This movement can be in oceans, dams or other sources. The most common type of hydropower is generated through large dams but this type of energy produced is not very environmental friendly because it disturbs the natural balance. Now the focus is more on damless hydropower plants, which is mainly generated in vast oceans.
Solar Energy
Energy collected and stored from the sun is referred as solar energy. This kind of energy is very popular and is widely used as well. Solar energy is popular because it can be used in small houses as well as for commercial use. There are two ways solar energy can be produced. One is called active and other is passive approach. Passive approach is one where solar panels are installed which store energy from sun and later through another system it is converted into electricity for common use. However, in active approach the building material stores energy directly from sun.
Wind Energy
Wind turbines are also a very popular renewable energy source. But it usually used at big scale and on places where high speed winds are very common.
Geothermal Energy
As the name suggests, this kind of energy is collected from earth and volcanoes. It is not a cheap option as well and very difficult to implement. However, this method could be used in the future as a renewable energy source.
